Sanrio shops (in the broad sense, official Sanrio stores) are divided into categories based on their store name, such as "Sanrio (Sanrio shops in the narrow sense)," "Hello Kitty Japan," "Gift Gate," "Vivitex," and "Outlet." As mentioned above, with the exception of Sanrio Cafes, all of these are collectively referred to as "Sanrio shops."
There are about 150 Sanrio shops (in the broad sense, official Sanrio stores) in Japan, and they are divided into categories based on their names, such as "Sanrio (Sanrio shops in the narrow sense)," "Hello Kitty Japan," "Gift Gate," "Vivitex," and "Outlet." As mentioned above, with the exception of Sanrio Cafes, these are all collectively referred to as "Sanrio shops."
↑lol
Of the Sanrio shops, Vivitex tends to target people in their late teens and older, and there are currently fewer than 10 of them.
↑Sanrio Vivitix Sunshine City Alpa. (Ikebukuro, Tokyo, Japan)
↑Sanrio Christmas tree
↑My favorite character.
↑Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel Christmas tree.
↑Cool.
↑For Kuromicore.
↑Special Usahana plush toy is rare.
↑Piano is cute! kawaii! lol
...p.s.
I found it...
↑Official image at Hangyodon's birthday at 2023 lol
...By the way, My Melody plush toys sold in Japan generally have ears pointing downwards, but this is simply because they are fragile. (Both ears are drooping, or only one ear is up.)
↑One ear up ver.
↑Dropping ears ver.
This is completely unrelated, but I feel like Kuromi should be number one in the Sanrio character rankings at least once. In fact, I thought "I think Kuromi has gotten number one at least once," so I was surprised that she has never been number one. At least Now in Japan and internationally, Kuromi is more popular than My Melody.
(Of course, I know Kuromi was created at 2005.)

DiverCity Tokyo is the name of the shopping mall. The store is called Hello Kitty Japan, not Sanrio Shop, but it's not specifically Hello Kitty-focused (lol).
However, there was quite a wide variety of goods, so I will show you the inside of the store with some photos.
↑They were selling white Kuromi plush toys (lol)
↑Entrance of this store.
↑Christmas goods
↑Although it is not a character item exclusive to this store, it is apparently the best-selling item in the store.
↑lol
↑Apparently the Sanrio character kimono plush toys are only sold in Japan, and there were quite a few foreigners buying them.
↑Cute Usahana!
Usahana is a minor character, so special stuffed toys are rare.
↑Cute Hangyodon! lol
Is there any merchandise you want?
↑Hello Kitty Japan DiverCity Tokyo is located on the second floor of this building.
By the way, the few Sanrio shops under the brand name "vivitix" sells practical Sanrio character goods (small cases, accessories, etc.) for people in their teens and twenties. The Harajuku store will be expanding and opening on December 11th, so I'm planning to go check it out someday.
Harajuku is a fashion district in Tokyo for young people, mostly in their teens and twenties, and you'll often see people attaching Sanrio Plush Toys (mainly, Kuromi's) to their bags as a stylish accessory in Harajuku.

Happy Birthday! Strawberry King! and Shintaro TSUJI!
Sanrio Founder Shintaro TSUJI was born on December 7, 1927, and is still 98 years old. His grandson, Tomokuni TSUJI (the eldest son of Shintaro's eldest son, Kunihiko TSUJI), is currently the president (CEO) of Sanrio.
Sanrio is a family-run business run by the Tsuji family.
incidentally, the family that owns the Toyota Group has the surname Toyoda, not Toyota. lol
Shintaro's eldest son, Kunihiko TSUJI, was vice president of Sanrio until he suddenly died of a heart attack in Los Angeles in 2013 at the age of 61.
The Strawberry King is familiar to Sanrio fans as he appears on the cover of the Strawberry Newspaper.
The Strawberry King is also an incarnation (another personality, character) of the company's founder, Shintaro Tsuji, and the "Message from the Strawberry King" that is occasionally published in the Strawberry Newspaper is written by Shintaro Tsuji.
He experienced the U.S. Air Force's air raid on Kofu during World War II (a raid that primarily targeted munitions factories but also caught many unarmed civilians in the crossfire), and he now aims for world peace through Sanrio characters. In fact, looking at this community, it's clear that his ideal of international peace is not just a fantasy because International people is enjoying Sanrio characters now .

There are few records of founders of major companies living to 100, so I hope he lives to at least 100 years old.
I pay tribute to the founder of Sanrio and the Strawberry King, I say, Long live Sanrio!
サンリオ万歳! (Sanrio Banzai!)
... banzai means long live in Japanese.

I'm 19 years old now!
Charmy Kitty (nicknamed Charmy-chan or Charmy) is the pet Persian cat of Hello Kitty's main character, Kitty White. Even in Japan, it has become a hot topic, with people saying "a cat is keeping a cat (lol)," but as you know, Hello Kitty is actually a cat-human (beast-human) or a girl who is an anthropomorphized cat.
Charmy Kitty is a little popular in Japan that she is always ranked within the top 40 of Sanrio's most popular characters every year.
There seem to be two types of Charmmy Kitty Plush Tyos: a white version and a pink version.
Other photos
The Sanrio Shop Tokyo Character Street where I took the photos is located inside Tokyo Station (a major Tokyo terminal station), and customers who happen to find the store come in out of curiosity, regardless of nationality. (lol)
The store is located inside Tokyo Station, which is used by 1.17 million people per day, and is also close to Otemachi Station, a subway terminal used by over 430,000 people per day.
Being located inside a terminal station is the perfect location for attracting customers.
Incidentally, Tokyo Station is the seventh busiest station in the world in terms of average daily passenger numbers. Well, the top eight spots are all occupied by Japan (lol).
Incidentally, the busiest station in the world is Shinjuku Station (Tokyo). There is also a Sanrio shop in front of Shinjuku Station, so I'll go there when I have some free time.
Today in particular, apart from Japanese customers, there were many who spoke Chinese, English, and Korean. Generally, more than 30% of the customers at this store are foreigners (people who don't speak Japanese as a native language). The international popularity of Sanrio characters, especially Hello Kitty and Kuromi, is incredible.

Studiocanal, a studio mainly known for the live-action Paddington movies along with Heyday Films has teamed with one of Sanrio's subsidiary companies (Mister Men Limited) to develop a movie based on the characters.
No release date has been stated yet, but it's likely it will come after the Hello Kitty Movie but we'll see once more is announced.
I'm getting Need For Speed Underground 2 this month, and I'm pretty sure you guys would like to see some new underground scene cars!
There are second-hand subculture goods stores pretty much everywhere in Japan, and I went to one and found these.
↑Oh! Black My Melody! lol
↑Black My Melody and Black My Sweet Piano!
By the way, there were a lot of Sanrio character plush toys scattered all over the shelves.
You can often buy things at second-hand subculture stores for less than three-quarters of the retail price, and you might even come across some rare finds. There are a lot of second-hand subculture stores in Tokyo, so if you come to Tokyo, Japan, be sure to visit not only Sanrio shops but also second-hand subculture goods stores!
Incidentally, there are several types of Sanrio shops in Japan, depending on the combination of "specialty" and "store size," but I'll explain that another time.
Btw, official Pokémon specialty shops are easy to distinguish, and are listed from top to bottom based on store size (number of products available): "Pokémon Center," and "Pokémon Store." they are able to classificated to just two types.
(There are 17 Pokémon Centers and 5 Pokémon Stores in Japan.)
In the case of Sanrio, some stores are large, but they also sell only Hello Kitty goods, making it difficult to distinguish and Classification.
Sanrio shops named "Gift Gate" are relatively large, but Sanrio Gift Gate Ueno is small. (Instead, there are many plush toys featuring panda Sanrio characters that are exclusive to the Ueno store.)
There are 147 Sanrio shops, which is far more than the number of Pokemon shops (Pokemon Centers and Pokemon Stores).

I'm a Japanese man in my 30s. I'm not married, but my sister has three daughters, so I thought I'd buy them Christmas presents, and on a whim, I went to the Sanrio shop (Sanrio Tokyo Character Street) that opened inside Tokyo Station on November 14th. I'll show you some of the things I actually bought.
↑I bought them.
The plush toys dressed in station attendant costumes are limited edition items that can only be purchased at this store in the world.
↑My nieces don't know My Sweet Piano (Piano-chan), but she is one of my favorite Sanrio characters, so I bought her a plush toy to help increase the popularity of my favorite character. I hope they will understand how cute she is.
↑I think I'll buy her again later. ...I said she, but Cherry is a girl, right?
I think she (Cherry) is to Cinnamoroll what Kuromi is to My Melody. (Cinamoroll's villain)
However, while Kuromi is more popular than My Melody, she and Berry is less well known and have a hard time becoming more popular than Cinnamoroll (Cinnamon).
By the way, in Japan, My Melody (the pink hooded rabbit girl) is called "MyMelo" (マイメロ) or "My Melo-chan," (マイメロちゃん) but many Japanese people don't know that her name is Melody and that My Melody is a collective term for her (Melody) and her friends. Cinnamoroll is known as the trademark name for Cinnamon and his friends, and My Sweet Piano is known as the trademark name for a piano, but My Melody and Hello Kitty are thought to be their personal names.
Below are some of the exclusive items from this store.
↑Many customers stop in front of this shelf and examine the items.
Entrance
This store opened in November 2025, and since they are number one and number two in the Sanrio popularity rankings for 2025, they are displayed as sculptures at the entrance.
I don't think they will change next year and beyond.
Even if the first or second place in the rankings changes to a different character, it just means they don't have the budget to recreate them (lol).
↑I also bought a paper bag.
↑Sushi plush toys and Kimono plush toys are Japan-exclusive items (sold only in Japan), so there were many foreign tourists buying them.
Approximately 50% of the customers at the Sanrio store in Tokyo are non-Japanese (foreign tourists).
↑We can eat them lol
By the way, there is a Pokemon store two doors down from this store, which also sells stationmaster plush toys (Pikachu only) that can only be purchased there.
By the way, this store is located inside Tokyo Station, in a facility called Tokyo Character Street, which consists of the first floor and the basement. Miffy Style, a specialty store for Miffy, who is as popular in Japan as Hello Kitty, is located on the basement floor.
↑original Miffy plush toys.

If you have the opportunity, please come visit the Sanrio shops in my country, Japan!!
In Japan, there is always a Sanrio shop in any city with a certain amount of population.
By the way, there are two Sanrio stores in the municipality where I live. This is because the municipality where I live is small in area and not within Tokyo, but has a population of over 651,200.
By the way, I am a member of Sanrio Plus. Simply put, it is a points service that anyone can use.

There are currently 147 Sanrio shops in Japan. It is well known in Japan that some of them sell store-exclusive goods (although most of the products are the same).
I went to one of them, the Sanrio Shop Ueno in Tokyo, to take some photos. It's a small but incredibly crowded store.
↑The entrance to the store is very flashy and attracts the attention of many people.
Ueno is famous for its vast urban park, Ueno Park, and its famous zoo, Ueno Zoo, which often rents pandas from China.
As a result, panda style Sanrio character plush toys are exclusive to this store, which can only be purchased here in the world.
Is there anything you want?
