Hello Kitty, My Melody, Pochacco, Badtz-Maru, and Keroppi learn they need different colors since they realized there was too many downsides.

Plot[]

Kitty wakes up from her bed, feeling excited to tell her friends about her family's activities over the summer. The scene fades to the school, where she and My Melody meet up, talking about their summer. My Melody tells Kitty that she visited her grandmother, and the two rabbits baked some cookies. Pochacco barges in, trampling the two girls on his way into the school building. When told off by My Melody, he reveals that he and Keroppi the frog was racing each other. Keroppi then comes in, greeting them on his way in. Badtz-Maru then follows, attempting to beat his classmates to the classroom.

Later, in the classroom, Kitty, Melody, Pochacco, and Keroppi take their seats. Badtz-Maru tries to get his classmates to follow his orders, but the jig is up when Kitty's grandfather Anthony (who is the real teacher) shows up. Anthony announces to his students that the subject today will be colors. Kitty asks Melody what colors they and the boys will be learning. While Keroppi picks green as his favorite color and Pochacco picks blue, Badtz-Maru plays with a paper plane, which Anthony puts a stop to.

Kitty and Melody later try to paint a picture with their favorite colors. While Pochacco attempts to draw a picture of his own, Badtz-Maru draws another face on the back of Pochacco's head, which leads to a chase. Kitty and Melody discuss what they drew: Kitty drew red apples while Melody drew red strawberries. Pochacco drew blue bananas, much to Keroppi's dismay. Pochacco admits that he knows that bananas are yellow, though he wishes that the whole world were blue. Badtz-Maru voices his desire for the world to be black, which supposedly would help him hide more effectively in a game of hide-and-seek. The kids start arguing about their favourite colours.

Meanwhile, from their home in the sky, Kiki and his twin sister Lala (the Twin Stars) watch the commotion, wondering what to do to fix this mess. They show up on riding in a basked held up by balloons, whereupon Lala introduces herself and Kiki to the five students. When she and Kiki are told what the students desire, Lala proclaims that the world's colors cannot be altered, but the students can have their eyes altered with a spell, which the twins cast. As a result, the students are forced to see their favorite colors. Kitty and Melody sign a song that gives praise to their environment being red. They pick some apples and decide to have a snack, only to react bitterly when they each take a bite. The girls decide to see Kiki and Lala again. The Twin Stars come back, listen to what went wrong, explain that all the colors of the rainbow have to be present for the world to be complete, and reverse the spell. The students head back home and revel at how their eyes have been reverted back to normal. Kitty promises that she will always tell unripe and ripe apples apart from now on and will wait for the green apple to become red before having a bite, while her friend Melody muses at how strawberries look nice with blueberries. Keroppi waters a plant in his house, causing it to bloom, while Pochacco mistakes Badtz-Maru for one of his bowling balls. However, Badtz-Maru admits his preference for how things were better before. Pochacco gets even with him by turning the lights off.

Kitty then types a message on her computer explaining that today she and the other students experienced what seeing only your favorite color is like if you lived in a world with only one color, you could miss out on a lot. Although she still likes red the most, Kitty admits that she is glad that so many different colors exist. Finishing up and sending the message, she bids farewell and turns out the light, presumably heading to bed.

Trivia[]

  • The three colors that Kitty, Melody, Pochacco, and Keroppi pick for their favorite colors are the primary colors of light. (Kitty and Melody pick red, Pochacco picks blue, and Keroppi picks green.)
    • As such, Keroppi is the only student that picks a secondary color of paint (since yellow and green swap their status between light and paint, and orange is considered a tertiary color in light and a secondary in paint, with cyan working oppositely).
  • When Kiki tells the students that the world needs all the colors possible, Anthony is shown driving a car.
