Alice in Wonderland is an episode of Hello Kitty and Friends, normally called Hello Kitty Alice in Wonderland. It is an obvious retelling of the story of the same name by Lewis Caroll.

Plot[]

The story begins with the camera closing in on the park where the titular protagonist and her big sister spend the day at the park. Alice notices that she is getting tired and asks the older sister whether reading books without pictures tires her. The older sister tells Alice that she does not get tired and uses her imagination instead. Alice then decides to walk, hoping that the trip will allow her to wake up. She leaves her sister reading under the tree that they were under.

As Alice starts walking, a rabbit runs by, complaining that he will be late. Alice follows his trail, but eventually loses him. As she ponders where the rabbit disappeared to, the very ground that Alice is standing on splits open and she winds up falling into the resulting hole, which closes up only a few seconds later.

As she falls, Alice spots a bottle that apparently is filled with "clear orange juice." She puts it on a table floating near her and then falls even faster, hoping that she stops falling lest she ends up "on the other side of the world," a wish granted in the form of a large pink cushion. Not long after she lands, Alice spots the bunny entering a warp zone that leads into a hallway with six green doors. Believing the rabbit to have escaped through one of the doors, she tries them. However, Alice finds the hard way that the doors are all locked as she twists their knobs and they refuse to open. Alice then spots a brown table that has a golden key on it. Taking the key, she tries to unlock the green doors, only to fail, but she finds another door behind the curtain, unlocking it with the key. Excited, she tries to squeeze through, only to be restricted by the door's small size. She then finds a potion on the table, labelled "drink me," and takes a swig, shrinking down. She then sees a fan and gloves, which she believes must have been dropped by the rabbit. Attempting to go through the door, Alice finds herself trapped inside and notices the key on the table and tries to climb it, only to fail. Defeated, Alice starts to cry, flooding the room to the point that the water pressure forces the door open. With the way clear, she leaves the room.

Getting out of the water, Alice notices some animals, who have been marvelling the water when she escaped (and got swept up by the river). The animals (quite correctly) guess that she created the water from her tears. Alice and the animals suggest a race to dry off, running around a tree. Having finished their game, the animals reveal that the race was just for fun. Spotting the rabbit nearby, Alice runs towards him to give him the fan and gloves she found. The rabbit searches his house, believing he left the fan and gloves there. Alice enters the house, frustrated that she lost him again. Finding another bottle, Alice notes that this bottle contains green liquid, which she consumes, only to grow to a massive size, getting herself stuck in the house as the screen fades to black.

Alice manages to get the bottle, drink more, and shrink back down to normal size. She runs away to escape the wrath of the house's owner, and finds herself face-to-face with a caterpillar who tells her that too much running can be bad for her. Alice tells him that she fell down a rabbit hole (even though she fell down a split in the ground that opened up out of nowhere) and since then changed size nonstop. As she explains this to the caterpillar, Alice asks him for directions. Taking another smoke from his pipe, the caterpillar tells Alice that a certain mushroom could help her. Alice proceeds to eat one half of the mushroom, getting a long neck akin to giraffes in the process. She quickly apologises to a bird who was living in the tree near her face. The bird attacks her for attempting to devour his eggs à la a snake. Alice escape and finds the mushroom, whose opposite half she eats, restoring her neck to normal. As Alice leaves, the caterpillar complains that some folks are too serious to have a sense of humour.

As she goes into another clearing, Alice comes across the Cheshire Cat. The felinoid being emerges with his facial features showing up first, then the rest of his body, and tells Alice that she should dream more. Alice explains that she is trying to get home, and the Cheshire Cat tells her as he turns invisible that if she puts her mind to it, escape is possible. Alice later comes across a tea party that a man (who was referred to as a "Hatter" by the Cheshire Cat) wearing a top hat is hosting. The tea party turns out to have imaginary tea, so Alice is put off. As she leaves, the Hatter hosting the party hopes that they meet again soon.

Alice continues moving forwards, and as she leaves the forest, she finds a castle. She finds some anthropomorphic cards painting some roses. The cards grouse about how their queen will get their heads chopped off if her roses are found to be the wrong colour (due to their seeds being wrong). Alice comes up wondering what the cards are doing, and they explain that they are painting the roses red so the Queen will not get their heads severed when she pays a visit. Sure enough, the Queen arrives and flips out when she finds that some of the roses are the wrong colour. Alice helps the cards escape, much to the Queen's anger. The Queen makes Alice play a warped version of Croquet, where the "mallets" are flamingos, the "balls" are porcuspines. Due to chaos, Alice is unable to play properly and gets brought to court because she "made the Queen's favourite mallet fly away."

At the trial, when the Jack of Hearts is tried for taking the Queen's favourite cherry pie, he denies it as he does not like cherry pie, only to be exposed by the Mad Hatter. The Queen demands that the Jack be executed for his theft. Alice then speaks up to defend the Jack. She explains that the Mad Hatter is wrong due to his habit of pretending to see things, revealing how he made her drink imaginary tea and eat imaginary biscuits. The Hatter claims that she is lying, and the Queen demands that Alice should be executed. Alice then starts growing back to her original size, only to be accosted by the guards at the Queen's orders. However, Alice fends them off and grows bigger, destroying the courthouse. The denizens of Wonderland flee. Alice spots the rabbit and tries to return his gloves and fan, only to get sucked into a vortex. She later comes to back at the tree where she and her sister were relaxing. As the episode reaches its end, Alice discusses her dream with her sister, describing the dream as strange. Alice admits that she had much fun during some points and was scared at others.

Trivia[]

  • Whether the King and Queen changed their ways or not is unknown, as they are not seen again.
  • This episode may have been derived from the Disney movie of the same name. However, the dress that Alice was wearing had short sleeves in the Disney film and she was human, while here, she has a long-sleeved dress and is an anthropomorphic chibified Japanese bobtail. Everyone else also looks slightly different: the Mad Hatter has a purple getup, and most characters have beady eyes, and the white rabbit is only referred to as a "rabbit" or "bunny" and also has a moustache, and he wears a suit.
