Bibinba are a group of Islander themed Sanrio characters created by Sanako Nozawa.
- Bibinba eventually became popular enough to spawn many comics, much like Pekkle and MINNA NO TABO.
- Bibinba became controversial alongside Sambo and Hannah when a 1988 July article put out by The Washington Post titled "Old Black Stereotypes Find New Lives in Japan" labelled Bibinba as an example of a racist stereotype continuing to be marketed by Sanrio and other Japanese companies at the time. Presumably because of this controversy, Bibinba merchandise has been discontinued and like Sambo and Hannah don't appear in any official treasury books recounting the company's past characters or the Sanrio website.
