CHOBOT (ちょボット, Chobotto), is a robot character that was created by Sanrio in collaboration with Yahoo! Japan to promote their children's website, Yahoo! Kids. CHOBOT debuted in 2004.
During the design process, Yahoo! wanted Sanrio to aim for a character that both boys and girls would like equally. Sanrio's design team proposed around 20 characters, from which CHOBOT was chosen due to his neutral and cool image. They also came up with a girlfriend for CHOBOT, named "Pyokotan", and "Sunagimo-san", who is neither a cat nor a dog. The characters appeared in flash games and animations on the website.
CHOBOT is 9 years old. He's energetic and loves fun things. He describes himself as "a little strange", but he's actually a soft-spoken person. His hobby is solo travel. His body is shaped like a cube. He has round blue hands and feet, a cone topped with a white sphere on top of the head, and light blue oval eyes.
