Beatcats is a 5-unit, virtual electro-pop group comprised of cats.

Biography[]

There are many things that cause nerves to flare... like friends, a crush, or changes to your school schedule. When that happens, the 5 colorful Beatcats might appear!

The Beatcats feast on the colors born from the pitter-patter of human hearts!

They absorb the heart-pounding colors and convert them to energy they use to sparkle. And as thanks for the heart-pounding energy, they flood everyone with singing and dancing.

When there is not enough excitement, they transform into vampires, losing a bit of their colors. They gain their energy back by performing for their fans, which they refer to as "MEALS", therefore gathering more colors from the excitement inside their hearts and returning back to normal.

Appearance[]

Mia (ミア) is a pink cat with a large, black bow. Her charm points are her sharp ears and her hot-and-cold personality. Her hobbies are observing girls whose hearts are pounding and expanding the wild ideas she gets from that. Her favorite food is strawberry-flavored chocolate, and she enjoys all things sweet. She also has an interest in romcoms and TV dramas. She possesses outstanding singing ability and a cute, high-tone voice. In her vampire form, she gains wings on her back, the tips of her ears, paws, and tail become a dark grey color, and her pupils become slimmer. When she loses all her colors and goes into “10%” mode, the rest of the pink on her body turns dark grey, with the only remaining colorful spots being on her ears and claws.

Chelsea (チェルシー) is a light blue striped cat with small, black ribbons on each of her ears. She has a clear, whispery voice. She's always sleepy, and her comments can be harsh, but they're always rooted in friendship. She enjoyed electronics and vocaloid music. In her vampire form, she gains wings on her back, the tips of her ears and the stripes on her body become a dark grey color, and her pupils become slimmer. When she loses all her colors and goes into “10%” mode, the rest of the blue on her body turns light grey, with the only remaining colorful spots being on her ears and claws.

Rico (リコ) is a yellow zombie cat, with patches and a lion-like tail, wearing a large, black rabbit-ears ribbon. She's full of energy and tension, but her tongue tends to hang out of her mouth. Her agile dancing can lift everyone's spirits. She enjoys running and excersizing, and her favorite food thing to eat is meat. In her vampire form, she gains wings on her back and the stitched parts of her body, tip of her left ear and foot, right paw, and tip of her tail (which has become more sleek and spiky), all become a dark grey color. Her pupils become slimmer and her sclera appears darker. When she loses all her colors and goes into “10%” mode, the rest of the yellow on her body turns light grey, with the only remaining colorful spots being on her ears and claws.

Layla (レイラ) is a purple cat, with a sharklike white patch going down her face and front. She always has her headphones in, and her expression doesn't change much, but she really does pay attention to what's going on around her. She'll liven up the stage with her rap. In her vampire form, she gains wings on her back, the tips of her ears, paws, and tail become a dark grey color, and her pupils become slimmer. When she loses all her colors and goes into “10%” mode, the rest of the purple on her body turns light grey, with the only remaining colorful spots being on her ears and claws.

Emma (エマ) is a fluffy, mint-green cat who wears four miniature black bows on her head. Gentle and kind, she's been described as a bit of an airhead, though she's not convinced. She's very flexible, allowing her to dance in an elegant way. She enjoys mint chocolate chip ice cream and taking long baths. In her vampire form, she gains wings on her back, the tips of her ears, paws, and tail become a dark grey color. Her pupils become slimmer and her sclera more red. When she loses all her colors and goes into “10%” mode, the rest of the green on her body turns light grey, the only remaining colorful spots being on her ears, claws, and neck tuft.

Backstory[]

Many centuries ago, when the Beatcats were babies, they were taken care of by their master, an elegant female vampire. One day she suddenly left them alone in their castle, only leaving behind a note that said "I don't want to be a vampire anymore. I'm sorry, cats." After realizing that she was gone, the cats fell into a deep, long slumber out of overwhelming sadness, only to wake up years later in modern times. Upon awakening they were very hungry, which led them to go searching for a way to feed off the excitement of human hearts. While they were searching for ideas, they noticed a projection of an idol's concert on the side of a building. This sparked inspiration in them, and they soon debuted as the Beatcats.

On March 16th, 2023, a short storyline was revealed over 7 posts on the Beatcats’ Twitter which reveals more information about their Master.

The first tweet shows Layla finding an old diary on a bookshelf. In the second tweet, Rico and Mia come over to Layla, curious about the contents of the book. The third tweet shows an entry of the diary which dates back to sometime in the 1700s, which reads:

“This may be the happiest moment in my long, long life.

I hope the time I have with my lovely cats and that person will last forever.”

In the fourth tweet, Mia realizes the diary was written by their master, saying “Back then, I was so happy to hear my master's love stories every day, meow.”

The fifth tweet shows another entry of the diary which dates back to sometime in the 1800s, which reads:

“ I am reminded that his time is finite.

The time he and I have left is not the same.”

The sixth tweet shows another entry, also from the 1800s, which reads:

” Goodbye, my love. Have a wonderful life next time.”

The story ends in the 7th tweet with an image of Mia, Rico, and Layla crying, each having something to say about the diary.

Mia says “Mia didn't know that something like this happened to her master...”

Rico says “She was always so bright and dazzling, so we didn't notice it at all.

Layla says “…I want to deliver this feeling to my master somewhere…”
