"Santa Paws! How come you're taking away all the presents, Santa?"
"Uh… w- these are the wrong ones! I- I got yours up in my sleigh!"
"But how come you're all dirty? And why are you so skinny, Santa?"
"You ask too many questions, kid. Now go back to bed!"
"Yes, Santa!"
"Phew, let me out of here!
"
—My Melody and Scroogenip

The Year Scroogenip Swiped Christmas is an episode of the television series Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater that is based on the story of A Christmas Carol, mixed with How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, and The Night Before Christmas.

Story[]

Everyone loves Christmas, except for grumpy ol' Scroogenip! She hates it so much that she plans to take it away from us! However, that doesn't stop Hello Kitty and her friends from outwitting the grump's clutches.

Plot[]

The story begins during Christmas time in a small town where a mean ol' grump named Scroogenip lived. She hated everything happy, especially Christmas. Even when people like Hello Kitty, My Melody, Tuxedo Sam and Chip try to get her into the spirit of it, she just never takes a chance to embrace it, not even a bit. As she starts to grow tired of it, she thinks of a way to do something about it, and soon. As the townspeople decorate the town with reefs, lights and other decorations, she finds them the things that make Christmas a thing.

Later that night, she tries to snatch them off the poles they were hung on in the most unprofessional way possible.

The next morning, Kitty, Melody, Sam and Chip notice that the decorations have been stolen! First it was the reefs, then the lights. What will be gone next? The townspeople were concerned too.

Later as the children were singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" down the road, Kitty asks Scroogenip if she could come help decorate the big Christmas tree, but she declines as she's got "better things to do with her time." Knowing how they just won't give up, she goes to inspect this "big Christmas tree" they're talking about. As the children with the rest of the townspeople decorate the big tree with lights and ornaments in the middle of town, she suspects this the thing that makes Christmas a thing, so she calls for drastic action to deal with it.

The next morning, Melody finds their Christmas tree gone as she calls to her grandparents. Grandpa Kitty tells her that everyone's tree is gone as well, and there's not a single one left in the entire village.

The children are sitting in the front of the house looking glum as Sam wonders who would do such a rotten thing like this, especially on Christmas Eve morning. Chip adds in that someone must really hate Christmas. Kitty tells them that it can't let it get them down as Santa Paws will come tonight, tree or no tree. Grandpa agrees with his granddaughter, saying that they're going to have a great Christmas, no matter what. Everyone brightens up after this.

At Scroogenip's house, Scroogenip knows that no matter what she does, people still think it's Christmas. Thinking it's Santa Paws and his presents being the next case of why the holiday is a thing, she makes a plan to make everyone find out that Santa Paws has claws.

Back at the Kitty Household, the children start setting up for the arrival of Santa Paws by hanging up stockings and leaving a plate of milk and cookies for him. Melody asks Grandma Kitty if she thinks Santa will come tonight, even if they don't have a Christmas tree. Grandma answers positively since it's Christmas Eve, so he should be leaving the North Pole right now.

At the North Pole, Santa Paws was loading all of the presents in his bag and loads it into his sleigh. He quickly checks his map to know where south is, and soon he sets off.

Back at the Kitty Household, the children are sleeping as Grandma wishes them a Merry Christmas as she turns off the lights. Santa arrives at the top of their house and begins to drop down the chimney, while trying to get his massive body down and out of it. He drops off the presents for Kitty, Sam, Melody and Chip in their stockings and eats the cookies they left for him. As he climbs back up the chimney, he gets stuck again and calls one of his reindeer for help. He grabs on to one of its antlers as it pulls him out of the chimney hard, sending them dangling off the edge of the roof. Meanwhile, Scroogenip tries to break inside the house, but the door is blocked by a chair to prevent anyone like her from trying to get inside. Knowing how they're getting smarter, she decides to get inside the way Santa does it, down the chimney. It was not easy as she kept slipping trying to get on the roof. Santa Paws begins to take off right as she sees him do so as he heads back to the North Pole, wishing a Merry Christmas and a good night to all. After seeing him leave, she hurries to get what he left before anyone does. She drops down the chimney and comes out dirty, which wasn't supposed to happen to Santa Paws. She then starts snagging their presents from their stockings, and that's when trouble began. Melody sees her taking their presents away, thinking she's Santa Paws. Scroogenip explains to her that they were the wrong ones, and that hers is in her sleigh. Melody becomes suspicious about her appearance; she's dirty and skinny. Scroogenip stops her from saying any more questions and sends her back to bed, as a scared Melody does so. Relieved, she goes back to snatching more presents.

The next morning, Kitty wakes Melody, Sam and Chip up for it's Christmas morning. They arrive at the living room only to find the most worrying thing possible; there's no presents! The townspeople were having the same bad luck as them with not a single present to open as the glum children were sitting at the front of the house again. Sam tries to cheer Melody up because there's always next year, but Melody has a meltdown because there's no more Christmas! Grandma comes up to them saying that it's still Christmas, and they don't need presents; the best part of Christmas is giving. Seeing this is their chance, they begin to enact upon the giving.

The children begin singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" as they give out presents to the presentless townspeople. With only one left, there's one person that they have not given anything to yet; that grouch Scroogenip. This gives Kitty all the more reason to cheer her up; Christmas is for everyone, and so the children head to her house.

Scroogenip was asleep until she wakes up to the children caroling outside, realizing she was played again. She opens the door just as the children finish singing as Kitty hands her a present, just for her. Understanding what Kitty said, the ol' grouch grows soft because she was never given a present before, surprising the children. She opens it to reveal Christmas cookies, one of the first ones she's ever had as she joyfully eats them. She thanks them, and Kitty and Melody say "Merry Christmas" to her as they walk away caroling. After she said "bye," she suddenly says "Merry Christmas" back to them. After being given that present, she knows that they never stopped believing in Christmas, even after she's taken everything away from them. Knowing that the holiday isn't just about trees, presents or decorations, she realized that she had been missing something nice all these years.

Later, Scroogenip arrives into town on a snowmobile with a sled hitched behind it carrying all the things she had stolen, back to them. Kitty notices that she's really got the spirit now as a cheerful Scroogenip begins celebrating happily as the story ends.

Hello Kitty, My Melody, Tuxedo Sam, Chip, Grandma Kitty and Grandpa Kitty all bow with Catnip still celebrating as she says to the theater audience "Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas, everyone!"
