"Yeah, Daddy! You're never late!"
—Mimmy notes how late her father George White is in The Day the Big Clock Stopped.

Mimmy (ミミィ, Mimyī) is Hello Kitty's younger identical twin sister and playmate. Because the two are very close, Mimmy is seldom shown separated from Kitty. She made her first appearance shortly after Hello Kitty's debut in 1974.

Description

Appearance

As her twin, Mimmy is practically a mirror of Hello Kitty in every way except for the color of her clothing; Mimmy wears a yellow bow on her right ear while Kitty wears a red bow on her left ear. Her overalls are usually orange instead of blue but share a yellow shirt, though sometimes they can be different colors. Mimmy is also portrayed as mouthless like her older twin sister (except for most animated series such as Hello Kitty's Paradise where she does have a visible mouth).

Like Hello Kitty, Mimmy has many different outfits, though she typically wears a dungaree. To differentiate her even further from Kitty, the creators give Mimmy a differently colored outfit from the ones her sister wears.

Personality

Although a happy friendly girl just like Kitty, Mimmy seems to have a slightly less outgoing, but more polite and thoughtful personality than her sister does, and they seem to highly enjoy each other's company. Anyone would describe her as shy and very girly. Mimmy's hobbies include sewing and dreaming of marriage.

Mimmy mentions that she and Kitty fight sometimes over silly things in "The Wonderful Sisters" episode from Hello Kitty and Friends.

Family

Mimmy is the twin of Hello Kitty. She also has a mom and a dad. Her grandma and grandpa are also often shown. They live in London in a small house. Mimmy is not only Hello Kitty's sister, but also her best friend (although a schism formed when Kitty bungled the pie recipe and Robert ended up eating a mess when she was trying to help out in Mimmy's attempts to become his friend in The Wonderful Sisters).

Trivia

  • Her name is pronounced " mi mi y"
  • Mimmy's full name is Mimmy White.
  • Mimmy's love interest relationship with Robert in "The Wonderful Sisters" episode from Hello Kitty and Friends can be seen as a precursor to Hello Kitty's official relationship with Dear Daniel, due to their similar appearances. The episode itself was released six years prior to Dear Daniel's debut in 1999.
  • Mimmy shares the distinction with My Melody of being Hello Kitty's best friend.
  • Her name is sometimes pronounced as "Mimi", "Mimmi", and even "Hello Mimmy".
  • In most of Mimmy's early appearances in the 1970s and 1980s, she often wears green overalls instead of orange.
  • Her shy personality is especially prominent in Hello Kitty and Friends, to the point that she even becomes timid at times, similar to Luigi from the Super Mario franchise.
  • It is revealed in "The Wonderful Sisters" episode that Mimmy is skillful at baking while her sister is not so much, implying that Mimmy has unique talents Hello Kitty doesn't have.
  • Although Mimmy is not quite as popular as her sister in comparison, she still has a cult-following in the Sanrio community with fans wanting to see her appear more often.
  • Although her nationality is supposed to be British, Mimmy has an American accent like most of the other Hello Kitty universe characters in the English dubs. It is possible that her parents were originally American but moved to Great Britain before she and Kitty were born.
  • Mimmy is rarely seen in any video games Kitty herself is featured in. Usually, she takes the role of the second player.
  • She appears in a picture frame in The Adventures of Hello Kitty & Friends.
  • Mimmy does not appear in the flesh in Hello Kitty Stump Village, but the balloon displays her instead of Kitty.
