Synopsis[]
Hello Kitty is looking for a perfect gift for her friend My Melody.
Plot[]
My Melody greets Hello Kitty in her shop, Small Gift Big Smile as Kitty asks My Melody that she is looking for a gift for "a friend", which is actually a surprise gift for My Melody, but doesn't know what to get as a gift. At first My Melody offers window ornaments but when Kitty asks if she likes tiny bears My Melody reveals she has a whole set of them, to Kitty's disappointment. Kuromi then enters the shop asking for something super cute to hang on her mirror. When My Melody says she'll be right with Kuromi, Kitty sees a giant ceramic apple and asks if My Melody likes apples, however it wouldn't fit in My Melody's living room also disappointing Kitty.
While Kitty is still deciding on a gift, Keroppi enters the shop along with Badtz-Maru after him asking for their own things, creating a line in the shop and worrying My Melody further. My Melody asks if Kitty's "friend" likes jewelry and mentions how she loves the colored bracelets, as Kitty is deciding what color would be the best she asks My Melody what color she would like, being pink though the bracelets don't come in pink, this gives Kitty an idea and she finally purchases the gift to My Melody's relief. My Melody then gives everyone else what they were looking for.
Later, Hello Kitty goes to My Melody's house to give her the gift which turns out to be the same bracelet Kitty bought but painted pink which My Melody loves, however My Melody mentions she has nothing to give to Kitty. Kitty then explains she already gave Kitty a gift with helping with the grand opening of her cafe. The two friends hug before My Melody's door shuts and the wind chimes make My Melody say her welcome phrase from her shop, before asking Kitty that she may be locked out.

- The name of My Melody's shop, "Smile Gift Big Smile" is a reference to Sanrio's slogan.
- The window ornaments shown in the episode are a reference to Tiny Chum and his friends, Tiny Green, Tiny Pink and Tiny Lavender.
- It is revealed in Season 6 episode "Back to my Friends" that Kuromi's appearance in this episode is actually Kuromi from the future, also setting the point in time Hello Kitty, My Melody and Kuromi travel back to this episode.
- The episode is incorrectly titled "The Perfect Gift" on the YouTube video title, with the actual title simply being "Perfect Gift".
