Story[]
Everybody loves Hello Kitty—even a huge monster named Kong (Grinder)! So get ready for fantastic furry-tale fun in New York City as this daring duo outwits Catnip and her sneaky, flea-bitten plans.
Plot[]
The story begins with a cruise ship, owned by the wealthy Catnip, setting sail. Everything on board, including the ship itself, belongs to her. Captain Sam was in command, assisted by his first mate, confidant, and right-hand (or right-flipper) assistant, Chip. Hello Kitty was distributing umbrellas to the passengers in preparation for the approaching storm. As the storm rolled in, the sky darkened, rain poured down, lightning flashed, and strong winds whipped up massive waves that rocked the ship violently. Hello Kitty informed the captain of the passengers' concerns, but he reassured her, saying, "As long as I'm at the wheel, there's nothing to fear." She went to relay this message to the passengers. Chip then slid in, reporting that he had finished swabbing the kitchen and that all the supplies, including the food and party hats, had been washed overboard. This forced Captain Sam to make an unscheduled stop at an unidentified island.
Catnip questions him about the stop, as Sam tells the passengers not to panic for he shall take care of the situation. So he, Kitty, Chip and Catnip set out for the island in search of supplies. They come across a gate where poodles were chanting, "Kong, Kong, Kong," with Kitty curious to know what it means. Sam spots food and before they could grab it, they get caught in a net!
Suddenly, a loud banging came from behind the gate. Kitty found out the true significance of "Kong" as the enormous creature burst out. Kong caught everyone and jeopardized to eat them, but he was only interested in Hello Kitty. He carried her away, and the others pursued them. Catnip developed a plan to make a fortune by taking Kong to New York City and putting him on Broadway.
Kong swung through the jungle with Kitty, narrowly bypassing a tree, a python, and a dinosaur. As Kong prepared to fight the furious dinosaur, Kitty proposed a peaceful solution and offered it a papaya. The dinosaur calmed down, and Kong resumed his journey with Kitty.
Sam, Chip, and Catnip followed them, while Kitty distracted Kong by dancing and began climbing down a vine. The rescue party arrived just in time to rescue her, but they crashed into a rock. Although Catnip still desired for Kong, Sam convinced her to abandon the idea as they returned to the ship.
They all make it back to the ship safely, as Chip begins to hoist the anchor back up. Catnip demands him to lower the anchor back down because she doesn't want to leave without her Kong. Speaking of, Kong is seen riding a pterodactyl going back for Kitty. Catnip sees the perfect opportunity to lure him in, and as he prepares for landing, the pterodactyl gets caught in the band and Kong falls into the boat. Kitty tells her that she can't bring Kong with them, but Catnip doesn't care as she says that he belongs to her now.
The ship arrives in New York City, where everyone is coming to Catison Square Garden where Catnip presents the eighth wonder of the world, Kong. Kitty sees the poor beast in distress as she tries to tell Catnip about this, but Catnip still doesn't care as she gets her off the stage. Kong sees this and tries to go help, and as paparazzi take photos of him, he manages to break free! Kitty tries to calm him down, but grabs her again and bursts out of the theater. NYPD are seen responding to the chaos as Kong attempts to run from them using two taxis as roller skates and rolling across the Manhattan streets. Police chatter reads that they are pursuing through Fifth Avenue, as Catnip takes a police car and follows them (for it's her Avenue). Captain Sam and Chip fly an airplane to get an aerial view of where they are until Chip spots them. Catnip gives chase as she weaves through heavy traffic, then police chatter reads that they are approaching the Empire State Building, and she heads there (for it's her building). Police vehicles are at the scene where Kong climbs up to the top of the building. Once at the top, Sam and Chip fly around him to try and save Kitty has Kong tries to defend. Kitty then tells him that New York is not safe and that he must go home, saddening Kong as he will miss her. He calls for his pterodactyl as Kitty gives him a goodbye kiss, saying the she will miss him too. He hops on the pterodactyl and heads home and waves goodbye, as Hello Kitty hops onto Captain Sam's plane safely. The story ends and the actors take their bow.
