Leosuke is a Sanrio character based on the singer Leon Niihama.
Leosuke was a small brown teddy bear owned by a boy who would read him stories about many things, including lions. One day the boy was crying and the teddy bear was unable to comfort him with words or actions due to his inanimate form. So on the night of the Tanabata festival the stars granted the teddy bear's wish to be able to talk and move and he gained a lion's mane and tail, and stars on his ears. Leosuke believes he is a lion now but the truth is he is an animate teddy bear with a removable wig. His lion's tail is held on by a button.[1]
