Onegai My Melody (おねがいマイメロディ, Onegai Mai Merodi) is a TV anime based on the Sanrio character, My Melody. Produced by Studio Comet, the anime was made to commemorate My Melody's 30th Anniversary and marks the debut of the Sanrio Characters Kuromi and Baku. It began airing on April 3rd, 2005.

Story[]
Debut Season[]
Kuromi, an escaped prisoner from Mari Land, has the Melody Key, an artifact with dream-corrupting powers, and she and her partner Baku have plans to gather 100 Black Notes to revive the Spirit of Dark Power. What for? To get back at her rival, My Melody, for the turmoil My Melody caused her (by accident, to be clear). When Kuromi ventures into the human world, she meets, teams up with, and even falls madly in love with Keiichi Hiiragi, a popular high school boy in Yumegaoka.
My Melody, with the Melody Takt, Melody Candies, and Melody Box in hand, ventures into the human world herself to gather 100 pink notes to stop Kuromi's disastrous plans. There, My Melody meets Uta Yumeno and her friends and they become partners in the quest to stop Kuromi's plans and save both the human world and Mari Land.
~KuruKuru Shuffle~ (Spin Around Shuffle)[]
Set one year after the events of the previous season, My Melody returns to the Human World again. However Kuromi and Baku yet again escaped as they have stolen a new Melody Key and Melody Pick, an item associated with the Spirit of Dark Power. To stop the Spirit of Dark Power to resurrect again, My Melody is appointed to capture both fugitives. Meanwhile, Keiichi Hiiragi is being judged guilty on his crimes against Mariland and to make up for it, he must help Uta and My Melody fight the darkness as the Bunny Eared Mask helper or he'll be severely punished.
Back at the Human World, a new student arrives at Uta's School, named Jun Hiiragi, who is actually Keiichi's little brother and a new partner of Kuromi in absence of Keiichi. Once Kuromi and Baku arrive, they learn that if they collected 8 black notes that coincides with the Solfège scale, their wishes will come true, and so they decide to wreak havoc into the city once more. It's up to Uta and Melody to stop the Revival of the Spirit of Dark Power once again before it's too late.
In this season, the Melody Mark spell has a new variation called the Kuru Kuru Shuffle, where the cards from the new dream object the Melody Compact are used to summon a random character. The Melody Takt also becomes a Hyper Melody Takt in the later episodes, which two cards will summon at once My Melody recites a tongue twister as the spell, else only one card will summon if she messed up.
Sukkiri♪︎ (Refreshed)[]
A year after the second defeat of the Spirit of Dark Power, My Melody and her friends went back to Mari Land until Baku "dropped a bomb" in the middle of the flower field, taking out black notes all over Mari Land and the human world. After a short while, Mari Land had their "high court" and took King Zou off the throne. When the time came to choose the next ruler, a black note came to the minister, turning him into a "Huff-Huff" which is a residue of Dar-chan. To rescue the minister, My Melody uses the now permanent Hyper Melody Takt to cast a new variation of the Melody Mark that uses the new Melody Crayons to draw a character she wished, as all the old cards from the last season were burnt away accidentally by King Zou and therefore she's unable to cast a Kuru Kuru Shuffle. My Melody was able to refresh him using the power of the new crayons to summon Uta Yumeno back to Mariland and was chosen to be a candidate for princess. However, she has to pass a trial by turning all of the black notes into Twinkle Gems to put in her crown. As soon as Kuromi heard this, she was outraged as she wanted to become the princess as well, but then a very mysterious female black panther came with an intriguing offer. Kuromi now has to collect Anger Gems and put them in her crown to become the Dark Princess and rule over Mari Land. The two decide to go to the human world and collect every black note for them to become the next ruler of Mari Land.
Kirara★ (Prequel)[]
Set before the events of the Uta Arc, Mari Land is celebrating a special event that involves watching the Shooting Star, on which they can grant someone's wish. In the human world, Kirara Hoshizuki, a normal elementary girl, is watching the stars that night until she is visited by the king of Mari Land, who invites her to his world. As the king takes her to Mari Land, she meets My Melody for the first time and becomes friends with her as they both watch the shooting stars. But in an unexpected predicament, the Wishing Star crashed and broke into pieces. Even worse, the passageway that connects back to earth is damaged as well. During the disaster, My Melody and Kirara met Prince Sorara, the prince of the star, who somewhat transformed into a giant chick after the Wishing Star is broken, and both My Melody and Kirara need to collect all the pieces of the Wishing Star for both Sorara and Kirara to go back to their respective worlds.
As the Melody Takt, Melody Key, and other dream objects used in previous seasons are not present till the events of the first season, a new main item is used in this season called the Star Pendant. It was gifted to My Melody and Kirara as a way to prevent trouble caused by a Star Fragment, and it allows them to transform the two into various outfits.

High School[]
Takes place three years after Sukkiri♪︎, where Uta is now a sophomore high school student. In Mariland there's a new incident where a forbidden magic item called Skull Bow has been stolen by Kuromi & Baku. My Melody returns to the human world to meet Uta and Kakeru again after 3 years to stop Kuromi once again.
Forever[]
Set after events of High School, this takes on a whole different plot compared to previous seasons. A strange president from another planet named Uranus the 51st wants to get power from the Earth for the Uranus Empire without ever forcing Earth into pollution. He recieves a report from his subordinates that it's ok to kill My Melody and Keiichi Hiiragi's alter ego Bunny-eared Mask. But Uranus doesn't want to kill anyone, so with help from Kuromi, he extracts My Melody's soul and prevent it from returning to her body. Now with people who have loved My Melody believing that she is technically dead, they were thrown into depression. However Kuromi is now playing the role to save My Melody as her new ego Kuro-Melody.
Tanpen Collection[]
This final manga involves various different story plots, unlike with previous manga and seasons.
I wish I could have a wedding! (Audio Drama)[]
Taking place after events of Forever and Tanpen Collection, Uta Yumeno and Kakeru Kogure have been grown a lot to adults and they are finally getting married. Everyone, including My Melody are excited for the upcoming wedding party, but Kuromi & Baku and Keiichi Hiiragi heard from this news and goes to the party aswell.
This audio drama is given exclusively to people who purchased all 4 seasons of the Onegai My Melody anime Blu-Ray sets from Frontier Works by October 17, 2016.
Yū & Ai (Friends and Love; Special for Jewelpet the Movie: Sweets Dance Princess)[]
Before the story, My Melody and Ruby prepare to go to the theater to watch Jewelpet the Movie: Sweets Dance Princess, and as Kuromi & Baku arrived to vandalize the poster with a sticker of Kuromi, the wind detaches the sticker, which causes Kuromi to angrily take the blame on Baku.
In Mariland, Kuromi & Baku are going for a picnic with barbeque, but as My Melody interrupted their picnic, both are attempting to take and share each other's food. My Melody eventually forced Kuromi and Baku into giving back her food by applying a Melody Mark on Kuromi.

- Hello Kitty, Sanrio's main mascot, makes cameo appearances in this anime. She appears during eyecatches in seasons 1 and 2.
- In season 4, Berry & Cherry(Lloromannic) from the Cinnamoroll universe appears in the eyecatches in replacement of Hello Kitty. They also appear as Kuromi's partners in this season.
- Eyecatches are absent in season 3 due to low runtime of the episodes compared to other seasons.
- Onegai My Melody takes on a unique Magical Girl genre of anime style compared to previously popular Sanrio anime shows like Hello Kitty's Paradise, as My Melody can access magic spells unlike most other Sanrio characters and in My Melody's past media.
- The Magical Girl style in Sanrio media would later be influenced to the Jewelpet anime shows.
- This is also the first time My Melody has a modernized personality and voice acting which distincts from her early Little Red Riding Hood roles back in Sanrio Anime Festival and Hello Kitty's Animation Theater, having to take tea breaks even through conflicts and situations and saying new phrases such as the signature pleasing word "Onegai?" and the iconic scared expression "Yaaan!"
- This series marks the first appearance of Kuromi, and uniquely the only media where she is outright depicted as a villain, before being toned down by Sanrio to become more kid-friendly and no longer an antagonist, though Kuromi would be still depicted as My Melody's rival, mostly in the successor Netflix show My Melody & Kuromi.
- My Melody and the other residents of Mariland are depicted as stuffed animals in this show. This term would later technically be implemented into the cotton-like stop motion style of My Melody & Kuromi.
- Human characters like Uta Yumeno partnering with Sanrio characters became more prominent in Sanrio Media after first airing Onegai My Melody, esspecially in the 2000s and 2010s. Examples include various human characters from the Jewelpet franchise such as Rinko Kōgyoku and Akari Sakura, Ms. Anna from Cinnamoroll: The Movie, and Nico and his parents from Kuromi's Pretty Journey.
- One of the running gags throughout the series, including in Yū & Ai, is that My Melody (and sometimes Kuromi and other characters) has a creepy yellow mask with a single cyclops eye and a sticked out tongue as her prank.
- The show gained a cult following over the years, and was even officially referenced in the #KUROMIFYTHEWORLDWEEK video.
- This show celebrated its 15th Anniversary in April 3rd, 2020.
- A small section at the end of the first op "Oto Melody" can be heard in the My Melody & Kuromi Take Over Netflix HQ video that promotes My Melody & Kuromi.
