"No doubt about it. These are the teeth marks of Paws, the Great White Dog Shark."
—Dr. Chip

Paws: The Great White Dog Shark is an episode of the television series Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater that is based on the movie Jaws.

Story[]

Shark! It looks like the beaches of Mayor Fangora's Catalina Island will never be safe again… until Hello Kitty, Lifeguard Sam and Dr. Chip swim in to stop a dreaded great white dog-shark (Grinder)!

Plot[]

The story begins in the beautiful little island of Catalina, where everyone usually goes there during the summer. But on this summer, this island will soon be met by a very unwelcoming guest.

Surfer Sam comes out of his lifeguard hut as Surfer Kitty arrives, ready to watch her catch some waves with her surfboard. Eventually, she find a very huge one and begins to surf on it, until Sam sees something in the ocean. A SHARK! Everyone panics, but Kitty barely takes notice until the shark eats half of her surfboard, losing control as Sam rushes over to help. Thankfully nobody was hurt, but just too much as Kitty's favorite surfboard is ruined, much to Sam's shock. Then, Mayor Fangora arrives to be hearing such potential nonsense because there has never been a shark in these waters and he should know. Sam tries to prove her wrong by asking of who else would do it, with her answer being sea termites, as she orders him to get the broken surfboard out of sight before it scares off the tourists. Sam orders to close the beach until he finds what's out there, but Fangora denies. He tries to make his point because he's head lifeguard, but she proves him wrong because she's mayor, and thus fires him.

Sam and Kitty head to the university to have Dr. Chip inspect the broken surfboard. Chip confirms that the teeth marks on the board are the teeth marks of Paws, The Great White Dog Shark. Sam and Kitty are in shock to know about this.

Back at the beach, Catnip thanks Fangora for giving her the job as lifeguard, because she's been wanting to be a lifeguard just to lie around and catch rays all day, with her mother explaining that she's good at that for sure. The trio arrives as Chip tells her that she has to close the beaches for no wood is safe with Paws around, but Fangora denies again. A cry for help is heard in the distance from a cat stranded in the ocean. Sam challenges Catnip to save him as the new head lifeguard, but she wouldn't even try to go in the water and risk getting her fur wet, so she instead tosses a floating ring on him to help him float safely, impressing Fangora. Then Chip notices something that suspiciously looks a lot like Paws, and rushes over to catch it as the cat runs back to shore, but it turns out to be two little kittens in a shark costume. Fangora and the rest of the crowd laugh over Chip's silly move, as the trio walk away in shame.

At Catamonica Pier, Fangora impressively arrives to see of how she hadn't seen the pier this crowded in years, as the kitty-go-round attendant, My Melody nods in agreement. Suddenly, the pier starts to rock and everyone begins to panic. Fangora looks down at what she thinks are the two kids in the shark costume causing damage. Sam and Chip arrive with the latter hating to tell her this, so she tells him not to, and Sam tells her that Chip was basically saying that those two kids are still back on the beach. Realizing that it is a shark, who is Paws, a frightened Fangora, Sam and Chip run as part of the pier with the kitty-go-round collapse into the sea.

Back at the beach, Sam, Kitty and Chip sit by Catnip's hut looking glum, as Sam and Kitty talk about how they used to ride that kitty-go-round back then before this happened. Fangora finally comes to acceptance that she is preparing to give Sam his job back and reward those who help along to get rid of that nasty shark as Catnip overhears this. The three head off on a boat to search for the shark as Catnip tells Fangora about what she was saying of giving Sam his job back from her, but Fangora tells her daughter not to worry under her motto, "Never make a promise you intend to keep."

Out at sea, Chip comes up with a plan that involves his fishing net, but it doesn't go the way it was meant to be planned which leads to his net being lost at sea due to strong ocean winds. So this time Sam comes up with a plan using his rods and tackle to fish the shark out of the water. Surely enough, it worked as Paws emerges out of the water ready to attack. Sam makes him go after the wooden bone as he goes for it and pulls their boat out to sea. Sam attempts to pull the other way, but then more trouble occurs as Paws is too strong and the boat runs out of fuel as they get pulled out to sea.

Stranded and surrounded as their boat is being eaten by Paws, Chip tries to take care of the dilemma with his untested shark repellent. He sprays it which causes Paws to sneeze a wave of water at them as he eats more of the boat. Sam explains to Kitty of how it's been nice knowing her, hoping that one day they'll ride that big wave in the sky, as Kitty appreciates his compliment. Chip wishes they would know why Paws is acting like this along with a reason to this, and Kitty soon finds out why this is; there is a fishing hook on Paws' left pectoral fin and the poor animal is hurt. Kitty helps him out by removing the hook from his fin and placing a bandage to heal the small wound. Paws is now happy and being friendly to her, as Chip cheers for her. Sam tries to figure out a way to get back to shore, and Kitty comes up with a plan with a fishing line and wood, along with the help of Paws.

Back at Catalina, Mayor Fangora presents to the tourists with the new and improved Catamonica Pier, as she assures to them that the shark problem has been taken care of and that the water is safe. Catnip notices Paws and the trio, frightened, until her mother sees this as well, also frightened. Kitty, Chip and Sam surf back to the beach as Sam thanks Paws, feeds him a piece of wood, and then the shark swims away. Sam then asks Fangora about the reward, as well as getting his job back, but it turns out that Fangora changed her mind. Cross, Paws initiates payback as he breaks part of the new pier with Fangora and Catnip on it and sawing it down to a smaller surface, and so Fangora has no choice but to give them the reward and for Catnip to hand over her job to Sam, as he thanks Paws for it. Catnip tries to sail them back on the beach, but their piece of wood flips over as Fangora can't swim and Catnip is all wet. And so, Surfer Kitty, Surfer Sam, Dr. Chip, Paws and everyone lived happily ever after. The story ends.
