Poponen (ポポネン) is a character created during a collaboration between Sanrio and SINANEN. Poponen and Cinnamon are the mascots of "SINANEN Akari no Mori Denki," a collaboration project that provides clean, energy-efficient plans to households. The goal is to ensure a sustainable future by reducing CO2 and using 100% environmentally friendly energy. Poponen debuted in November 2020, along with the project's announcement, and the project was launched in March 2021.
Poponen is an otter who comes from the future to spread the word about clean energy. He's the keeper of Akari no Mori, or the Forest of Light, which is where he met Cinnamon. The forest was created by the human race in the very distant future, in a world where nature and electricity coexist. Poponen is bright, energetic, and expressive, and he has a good, compassionate heart. Together, he and Cinnamon are working to spread awareness about how average households can be energy efficient.
