Ruby believes being turned into a Jewel Charm is too boring.
When her friends are being turned into their Jewel Charm forms during Jewel Land's cleaning day, Ruby runs away as she believes sleeping in the Dream Forest is too boring. She heads to a beach in Jewel Land and then decides collect seashells for her friends Garnet and Sapphie, while she is collecting shells, the rest of the Jewelpets in their Jewel Charm forms are accidentally dropped into the human world.
Later when it becomes dark in Jewel Land, Ruby heads back to the town, noticing nobody is around, even when knocking on the door of Garnet and Sapphie's homes. Believing the cleaning in Jewel Land isn't done yet, she goes to Raku Majo, who then reveals to Ruby that her friends are now all in the human world, understanding, she wants to leave only for Raku Majo to decide that Ruby should be the one to find all of her friends as punishment for escaping earlier. Reluctant, Ruby is transformed into her Jewel Charm form and sent off to the human world.
Meeting Rinko Kougyoko[]
After being sent to the human world, her Jewel Charm ends up the glass of water of a girl named Rinko Kougyoko, who thinks she caught a shooting star, but later finds out from her encounter with Keigo Tatewaki that it is a Jewel Charm with the Ruby being the Jewelpet that is inside.

After heading outside in an area where almost nobody passes by, Rinko uses the Jewelpet pocketbook given to her by Keigo to transform Ruby back into her Jewelpet form. Now free again, Ruby feels better now that she's not inside a charm anymore, with Rinko asking Ruby if she can use her magic to give her courage, but Ruby says she won't do it for free and asks Rinko to help her with finding her friends to which Rinko agrees. Upon using her Jewel Flash for the first time, Ruby creates a large explosion leaving a crater behind, despite Rinko's suspicion, Ruby lies and says her magic will work tomorrow, but in reality she has a magic grade of 0, meaning her magic hardly actually works.
