"The next time Princess Kitty watches TV, she'll fall asleep forever, and henceforth be known as Sleeping Kitty!"
—Bad Fairy

Sleeping Kitty is an episode of the television series Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater that is based on the story of Sleeping Beauty.

Story[]

Hello Kitty falls fast asleep when the mean witch Fangora puts a curse on her. Now it's up to Prince Tuxedo Sam to work some magic and wake the sleeping beauty.

Plot[]

Before the play, Grandma Kitty was getting Grinder ready for showtime, but he is not pleased with his costume because it is "sissy stuff." Grandma reminded him that he wanted to be one of the good guys, but he thinks it's terrible. She says that he looks fine, then Hello Kitty calls out for everyone to get in their places for its curtain time.

Once upon a meow, a king and queen were arranging a birthday party for their daughter, Princess Kitty. The queen suggested inviting Bratnip, but Princess Kitty insisted that Bratnip was a bully who ruined everything. The king agreed with the princess, but the queen worried about what her own mother might say if Bratnip wasn't invited.

Soon, the party guests arrived: My Melody, Tuxedo Sam, Chip, a good fairy, and a not-so-good fairy. As a balloon floated toward the ceiling, mud balls suddenly flew through the window, missing everyone completely. It was Bratnip, furious that she hadn't been invited, and she was determined to get revenge. Her mother reassured her, "Don't you worry, my dear. She shall pay for this," and together, they flew to the castle.

Inside, everyone gathered to blow out a candle and make a wish for Princess Kitty. The not-so-good fairy thought for a moment, then blew so hard that the cake was propelled to the other end of the table.

Suddenly, Bratnip and her mother stormed in with their own candle. "The next time Princess Kitty watches TV," Bratnip's mother announced, "she will fall asleep forever and henceforth be known as 'Sleeping Kitty!'"

The royal couple protested, but Bratnip's mother blew out the candle anyway. "That's what you get for not inviting me to your dumb party," Bratnip sneered at the princess.

But not all was lost. The good fairy still had a wish to make. Unfortunately, because she wasn't the one who had cast the spell, she couldn't break it. She could only modify it. "If Princess Kitty becomes Sleeping Kitty," she declared, "she can be awakened by the kiss of a noble prince." The good fairy then used her wand to extinguish the final candle's flame.

Bratnip's mother scoffed, "I'll make sure no prince ever comes to kiss her!" They could have died. With that, she and Bratnip vanished in a puff of magic.

The king and queen burst into tears, but Princess Kitty calmly asked why it was such a big deal. "I just won't watch TV anymore," she said.

The king had an idea: ban television across the land. This declaration shocked everyone. "No more TV?!" they all exclaimed. After some discussion, they agreed to help the princess. The not-so-good fairy was hesitant to give up TV, but the good fairy gave him a stern look, and he reluctantly agreed as well.

The "No More TV" policy has been made and it's not long until the last TV has been loaded and sent away with the rest. Sam tells them that they'll soon get over having to live life without television. Everyone shamefully agrees with him, but the not-so-good fairy wants his TV again. Bratnip hey-yous him to a corner and he comes, hearing of a TV, wondering where it is, but she silences him and takes him with her.

At the castle, Sam tells Kitty and Melody of how they used to watch "Kiwi's Playhouse," and Melody wonders of what's happening on "The Catsby Show," and they all sigh in shame. Bratnip shows up in a suit with her TV, attempting to lure them in, but Kitty denies and all walk the other way, upsetting Bratnip. The bad fairy shows up with a cardboard stilt of a TV, acting like an advertiser for household items such as microwaves, freezers, and TVs. Kitty denies again and all head the other direction. The not-so-good fairy shows up as "Grinder P.I." with TVs in his coat. Sam calls him a traitor because they shouldn't watch anymore TV. Bratnip appears again, saying that she can because she kept hers, then tells them that a monster movie is coming on in five minutes and asks them if they want to come and see it. They agree, but Sam was having second thoughts, especially for Kitty's safety. Kitty, slowly beginning to cry, tells them that just because she can't watch TV, it doesn't mean that they can't either. They excitedly ask her if she really meant it, and she tells them that it's okay and they can go ahead. Everyone runs off excitedly, leaving Kitty behind as she walks sadly away.

Nightfall comes, and Kitty continues to feel left out. Suddenly, screams of horror can be heard from Bratnip's house. Thinking they're in trouble, she goes inside to see what is happening. Everyone is quivering as they watch the movie to a scene where a cat vampire is about to drink someone's milk. The bad fairy sees her chance and turns the TV to face Princess Kitty and is magically put to sleep! Her friends rush over to the scene of chaos in worry. Sam tries to wake her up, and Melody cries of this being all their fault. The bad fairy tells them that she's Sleeping Kitty now. My Melody, Tuxedo Sam and Chip break into tears.

Sleeping Kitty has been placed in the middle of the throne room with everyone mournfully crying for her. The king tells his wife that one day, she will wake up. The good fairy has the idea of putting them to sleep and wake up when Sleeping Kitty does. The queen agrees, but first, they must leave the kingdom in able hands. The king calls in Sam and presents him with a knight's sword, with Sam assuming that he's being punished. The king declares him, Sir Penguin, Knight and Protector of the Kingdom, until he awakens. The queen adorns him with a knight's helmet as the king tells him to rise and guard his kingdom well, and Sir Penguin does so for him. The king and queen are ready, and the good fairy magically puts them to sleep. Everyone leaves the castle quietly with Sleeping Kitty and her parents asleep inside.

Outside, the not-so-good fairy asks where they're going to find a prince as the good fairy checks her dictionary. Firstly, a king's son. Secondly, a rock and roll star. Finally, a knighted penguin who awakens a sleeping princess with a kiss. This person turns out to be none other than Sir Penguin himself, much to his surprise. Suddenly, rose vines arise from the ground about to cover the castle. The good fairy suspects that the bad fairy is behind this. It was, as she and Bratnip rush by in a scooter. Acting fast before the window gets covered, the not-so-good fairy tries to magically make a ladder. It's too small, but is easily fixed as the good fairy makes it larger. Sir Penguin climbs up in a hurry, as Bratnip sees him and they try to stop him. The not-so-good fairy sees them and magically forces their scooter backwards, impressing the good fairy. Their scooter rolls backwards and crashes onto the ladder, knocking it over as Sir Penguin grabs hold of the window sill. The bad fairy magics them on a hot air balloon out of the fountain pool to stop him. Bratnip pours salad oil on the sill until Sir Penguin's flippers couldn't hold grip and falls down, but is saved by the two good fairies in a helicopter. The bad fairy and Bratnip board up the window, and the good fairy has the idea for him to blow a kiss before it's too late. Sir Penguin blows out Yoyo the Kiss as the bad fairy tries to bug-swat it as it gets inside. Bratnip attempts to throw a boomerang at it, but backfires and pops their balloon and they both crash down (As predicted). Yoyo approaches the sleeping couple and starts kissing the queen, but Sir Penguin tells it not to kiss her and guides it to Sleeping Kitty for it to kiss her instead. Yoyo kisses her and Kitty has finally woken up along with her parents, relieved to see her awake. They wonder who the prince was that awakened her, which happens to be none other than Tuxedo Sam, Princess Kitty's prince. The two are married as everyone cheers. The story ends.
