Sumire is a female salamander character created by Hisato Inoue and belonging to the Hangyodon Universe. She is Hangyodon's younger sister who debuted in early 1986, one year after Hangyodon did. The main difference between her and Hangyodon is the fact that she is an amphibian rather than a half-fish.
Sumire has a strong personality, is a hardworker, and likes cleaning. Sumire also tends to be very competitive and hates losing. She can be a bit harsh sometimes.
Sumire has a job at the Aquarium and her favorite food is Umeboshi. Sumire has an A Blood Type.
Etymology[]
The word Sumire means violet, which could be referring to her dark skin color.
Trivia[]
- In some parts of Sam to Chip no wa Hachamecha Dai Race, in the crowd shots featuring Sumire, she is colored a lot more akin to Kingyochan. If one looks closely in a shot towards the end though she retains her darker color scheme for that scene. This change was presumably because of the controversy her character design could cause nowadays.
