The Day the Big Clock Stopped(ハローキティのとまった大時計),also known in South Korea as 헬로키티의 멈춘 큰 시계 (Hello Ki-ti-ui Meomchoonkun Si-dyeh) is an episode of the television series Hello Kitty and Friends.

Story[]

A series of clocks that stopped moving causes a huge problem across London, and so Hello Kitty and Mimmy go to figure out what's happening.

Plot[]

The episode begins at the Whites' residence as Kitty and Mimmy wake up. However, they notice that the sun is higher than it should be, meaning they got up late. They check the time: quarter before six. The girls run out of their room to get ready for school as their parents get up, getting breakfast.

At school, the girls notice that their classmates are eating food. Fifi and the puppy explain that the schedule got jumbled by the alarm ringing randomly and more quickly than it should. The girls get back home, explaining that the school clocks were broken, too. Kitty and Mimmy are later seen making cookies shaped like their own names, but due to the oven timer being broken, the cookies are burned and ruined.

The girls decide to get their clocks checked, boarding a bus (that their classmates have also boarded) that takes them to the clock shop. Despite the long line, the gang gets there, and the clock shop's shopkeeper is seen in there, looking at the clocks to see the damage. Due to so many clocks being brought to his shop, he gets swamped. Kitty and Mimmy offer to help him, and do so successfully, heading back home.

Later, at night, Kitty and Mimmy have nightmares regarding their predicament. Kitty had a dream that she was in a strange world where the clocks were weird and talking and the time wasn't known, while Mimmy dreamt of getting to school late, causing detention. The duo later get dragged from their bed by a bird from the clock shop. The bird knows that this mess stems from the Big Ben clock tower, so the girls follow his lead through a forest. They eventually reach the clock tower, climbing to the top where the big clock is. There, the girls find that a bird had accidentally jammed the minute hand with his weight, forcing it and the hour hand to stand still. When asked as to why he did this, he explains that he hatched late, therefore being too young to learn how to fly. When he did try for himself, he ended up falling, landing on the minute hand and being stuck there. The girls try to teach him how to fly, but Kitty slips and loses her balance as she and Mimmy flap in demonstration. Mimmy grabs her, but is not strong enough to pull her back up, so she ends up going down, too. At this, the bird on the minute hand finds his confidence and flies down to save the twins with the clock shop bird's help, succeeding when the other birds in the cuckoo clocks come out of their own cuckoo clocks, as it had just struck 6:00.

The next day, everyone goes back on schedule since the clocks have been restored to their operational selves, which the shopkeeper finds to his delight. Meanwhile, the bird who learned to fly drags Kitty and Mimmy from their bed. The twins are overjoyed when they find that the clocks are operational again. Their father notes his wish that his Mondays could "start that cheery every once in a while."
