"It… it… it's the Phantom of the Theater!" - —Chip and My Melody
The Phantom of the Theater is the final episode of the television series Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater that is based on the story of The Phantom of the Opera.
Story[]
Hello Kitty's theater is fun, exciting and… haunted? It looks like someone's been playing lots of spooky tricks on the furry-tale gang. But who could it be? The answer is purrfectly hilarious!
Plot[]
It's been another successful day in the theater for Hello Kitty and the others as they have finished their show. However, as they are making their final bows, the curtain falls on them, literally! While the performers aren't so happy about the incident, the viewers sure found it enjoyable. Catnip has her suspicions upon Tuxedo Sam; he was the one running things backstage after all. While he professes innocence, the fact remains that someone had to have done it. Kitty sends Sam to check it out. Despite this one incident, the show went splendidly. All the actors agree, and so they retire for the day and clean up.
Sam goes up to check on what happened and sees that the rope that held the curtain broke. However, closer inspection of the rope reveals a concerning fact; someone cut or chewed the rope; this was no accident! Before Sam can report this, he ends in a second surprise; a rope around his ankle leaves him dangling for quite a while.
As the day goes on, more and more strange occurrences happen. Catnip was in her dressing room looking for a bag of candy she stashed away, but it was missing. She's come to the thought that someone stole her candy, and her one and only possible suspect could be none other than Grinder. In his dressing room, Grinder was looking for his favorite shirt which had gone missing. Catnip enters the room asking if he ate it all, but he tells her that he hadn't eaten anything since lunch. She looks around and eventually finds the remaining pieces of her candy in his duffel-bag. Kitty comes in to the scene of the situation as Catnip and Grinder start arguing. Kitty tells them to stop and return to what they were doing, and Catnip does so without hesitation. It seems bad for Grinder to have been blamed for something he didn't do, but things only get worse; My Melody's teddy bear has gone missing from where he sat on her chair. She tells Kitty about her missing teddy so she helps her look for it. They come to Chip's dressing room as Chip was fishing off his fishing hole about to catch something for lunch. He pulls out his catch with his fishing line and to his surprise, it was My Melody's teddy bear, all soaked and ruined! Melody retrieves the wet teddy from the hook and cries. Kitty asks Chip if he was up to his old tricks again, but Chip tells her that it wasn't him and that it was someone else. Cross, Melody asks him how her teddy ended up in his fishing line, but he doesn't know how it even happened and fussily walks off. Thankfully, something does go right; Chip sees Tuxedo Sam dangling above him and comes to save him from his dangling doom. Chip tells Sam about what has been happening, then Sam tells him that someone must've cut the rope that held the curtain. But who could've done it? Then a trapdoor beneath them opens, and they both fall into the depths of the theater's basement.
While Melody tries to take care of her teddy by drying him off with a fan, someone begins to cause the power to go on the fritz, which makes Grinder carrying a poster in front of him bump into Catnip. Kitty stops them from arguing again and decide to check out the power.
Down below, Sam and Chip have been wandering around the basement in circles. Thinking there's nothing to fear about, they see a ghostly shadow, fearing it to be a phantom or even a ghost, and run off to another room as the door behind them closes.
No one was at the power control, and Catnip and Grinder weren't even behind it. This leaves three possible suspects; My Melody, Tuxedo Sam, and who better else than Chip. Melody tries to look for Kitty in her dressing room and is frightened by the worst of things; a haunted glove! She runs away and bumps into Kitty, as she tells her what's been happening; the theater is haunted! Grinder is concerned, but Catnip finds it all a bunch of "superstitious ignoramuses". Ghostly howls are heard around the theater, spooking Grinder, and so Kitty decides to find out what's happening by venturing into the basement. Still finding it nonsense, Catnip is met by the haunted glove and runs off with them spooked. The door to the basement is locked, but luckily Grinder's superior strength came in handy to break the door open, and so the journey into the basement begins.
Sam and Chip are stuck behind the locked door trying to figure out how to get out of here, until they hear footsteps. Thinking that their ghost is coming back, they run around in fear and try to hide.
Kitty, Melody, Catnip and Grinder venture into the basement, where Grinder finds it spooky, and a nervous Melody agrees with him. Catnip still finds it nonsense, until she gets scared by an old, rusty, empty suit of armor, scaring everyone. They eventually find a door, but it's locked. Grinder goes to bust through it, but the door mysteriously opens and he charges past it and hits something. The three go in the room to find him, until the door behind them closes, locking everyone inside. Luckily, they reconcile with Sam and Chip who were hiding in a casket. They get excited in their reunion, but they still need to find a way to get out of here. Melody is worried about what happened to Grinder, so they try to look for him. They find a mummy tomb, and inside, a horrifying mummy comes out and chases them! They run into a dead end, leaving only one solution; unwrap the mummy from the rags. It turns out to be Grinder, as he thanks Kitty for untangling him.
Catnip is not impressed, and blames Grinder for being the one behind it all, starting with the falling curtain and her candy. The two begin to argue again, until the organ starts playing. When a secret passage is revealed, it would seem that the time has come to catch this mischievous phantom.
Eventually, the actors come face-to-face with the dreaded "Phantom"; a little mouse with a skill at organ-playing by the name of Mowzer. Kitty asks him if he was the one who was playing pranks on them, to which he admits that he was. He assures the gang that he never meant any harm with his pranks; he was just trying to save his theater (apparently, he's lived there longer than anyone else)! Thankfully, Mowzer and Kitty decide that they all should share ownership of the theater. Mowzer offers a handshake; Grinder accepts, until he gets zapped by a joy buzzer. Chip is amused by it and Mowzer gives it to him. He gives My Melody some flowers as she finds him sweet, but she gets squirted by water from them. Catnip then asks him about her candy; Mowzer ate it all, so he hands her a box of "peanut brittle" to make up for it. Before Catnip could enjoy it, it turns out to be a pop-up clown, scaring her. Hello Kitty finds it certain that the future will be a wild one with Mowzer.
