- "Who dares disturb the mighty Wizard of Paws?"
- —The Wonderful Wizard of Paws
The Wizard of Paws is the first episode of Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater and is based on the movie The Wizard of Oz.
Story[]
"There's no place like home, furry home!" That's what Hello Kitty, Tin Penguin, Scarecrow Chip and Cowardly Rabbit discover during a fantasy-filled journey to the magical land of Paws.
Plot[]
Before the play, Grandma Kitty was getting Hello Kitty ready for showtime. Catnip, seeing this, decided to sabotage the performance by replacing Tuxedo Sam's can of costume oil with a can of something other than oil.
Once upon a meow, there was a girl named Hello Dorothy who lived with her grandcats on a farm in the land of Catfish. One day, a tornado ripped through their farm. Her grandcats frantically searched for her and tried to evacuate to the cellar. The house was sucked up by the tornado with Hello Dorothy still inside, unaware of what was happening until she found herself in the midst of the storm.
The house eventually crashed to the ground, and when Dorothy emerged, she discovered she wasn't in Catfish anymore. She was greeted by Tin Penguin, who welcomed her to the Land of Paws and introduced her to the Munchkins, Scarecrow Chip, and the Cowardly Rabbit. Tin Penguin and Scarecrow Chip thanked her for saving them from being turned into cat litter by the Wicked Witchy.
Dorothy introduced herself, saying that in her home, "there's no such thing as witches." Just then, the Good Witch appeared, questioning Dorothy's statement. Suddenly, Dorothy's house started to rock, sending everyone scattering. Dorothy saw a magical collar on the ground, and the Good Witch told her to grab it. Dorothy grabbed it and put it on.
The Wicked Witchy emerged from beneath the house, saw Dorothy wearing her collar, and tried to grab it, but the collar shocked her hand. The Wicked Witchy vowed revenge, telling Dorothy she would regret taking the collar, before flying off on her broomstick. The Good Witch reassured Dorothy that she was safe as long as she wore the collar.
When Dorothy asked how to get back to Catfish, the Good Witch admitted she didn't know anything about it but suggested she ask the Wonderful Wizard of Paws, who knew everything. The Good Witch then disappeared. Dorothy, Tin Penguin, Scarecrow Chip, and the Cowardly Rabbit set off on the Yellow Brick Road Express to Anchovy City, where the wizard lived.
At Anchovy City, the wizard was nowhere to be seen. He heard them disturbing him and emerged after Tin Penguin told him what they were there for. The Wonderful Wizard of Paws asked them what they wanted: Hello Dorothy wanted to go home, Tin Penguin wanted a heart, Scarecrow Chip wanted a brain, and the Cowardly Rabbit wanted to be brave. The wizard told them to bring him the broomstick from the Wicked Witchy of the West, and their wishes would be granted.
At the witch's castle, the Wicked Witchy saw them heading toward her and summoned Lieutenant Grinder and the Flying Dogs. She told them to bring Hello Dorothy to her unharmed and to do whatever they wanted with the others as they prepared to attack at moonrise.
On their way to the castle, they see Lt. Grinder and his squad. Tin Penguin tries to defend, but the lieutenant grabs him and tosses him like a football. Scarecrow Chip tries to defend, but the lieutenant grabs him and bounces him around like a basketball. Finally, he grabs the Cowardly Rabbit and tosses her like a baseball and takes Hello Dorothy with him.
Tin Penguin demands the flying dogs to drop them. They do so, and Tin Penguin lands in a swamp, Scarecrow Chip hits the ground hard beating his stuffing out, and the Cowardly Rabbit lands on a tree branch. She couldn't take anymore of it and tries to leave, but decides to go back and help her friends out. She helps re-stuff Scarecrow Chip and both pull Tin Penguin out of the swamp. Scarecrow Chip was about to use the oil can to loosen Tin Penguin up, but instead of oil, it was whipped cream! Luckily, the Good Witch appears with an oil can to trade, and soon Tin Penguin is loosened and ready to go.
The trio arrives at the witch's castle and see the Wicked Witchy threatening Hello Dorothy to hand over the collar. Tin Penguin has an idea; place a piece of board on a rock and use the drawbridge to catapult them into the castle. He intimidates the poodle until the drawbridge comes down and they are soon catapulted inside the castle. Lt. Grinder prepares to charge on them, but Tin Penguin swings down and grabs them as the clumsy lieutenant charges through the door and falls down the pit. The witch becomes furious and is about to turn them into toads, but all move out of the way as the ray hits a mirror and backfires on her, turning her into a toad. All four take her broomstick and head for Anchovy City, as a male toad falls for the toad-turned witch and chases after her.
Back at Anchovy City, the wizard was taking a nap until the four come crashing through the roof and arrive with the broomstick. The wizard finally grants them their wishes; the Cowardly Rabbit is given a pair of visors and is able to act cool and tough with no-one able to tell how scared she is, Scarecrow Chip is given a report card with all straight As, Tin Penguin is told that someone loves him and must have a heart and that he wouldn't be loved if heartless, and finally, the wizard prepares to personally take Hello Dorothy home with the broomstick, but he takes off too soon and flies away uncontrollably in the distance.
Hello Dorothy falls hopeless of being unable to return home, until the Good Witch shows up and tells her to just close her eyes, grab the magic collar, and say "Home, Furry Home" over and over again. She does so, and eventually wakes back up to reality, where her grandcats were waiting for her. She tells them of how she's been to the most purrific place, but she's also glad to be back and tells them that "there's no place like home, furry home."
When the show ends, Grandpa Kitty still couldn't control the broomstick, until he finally manages to stop it, and all the actors bow.
